This position will provide friendly customer service in our gift shop and for phone and mail orders.
Job Location: Indianapolis
Reports to: Lead Retail Sales Associate or Abbott’s General Manager
Job Duties:
- Pleasantly greet and assist customers in the retail store or on the phone.
- Follows procedures for operation of cash register and credit card machine and make sure adequate change is in drawer
- Ensure pricing on all merchandise and package as directed
- Maintain an adequate supply of boxes, bags, tissue paper, etc.
- Maintain and rotate product by following established restocking/rotation procedure. Restock merchandise, alerting supervisor of any needs
- Take merchandise orders as they are received in person, by phone, mail or as directed by supervisor If pick up, fill order. If shipped, send to shipping.
- Confer with supervisor/specified instructions for work assignment each day
- Maintain clean store by sweeping, cleaning or dusting merchandise and display areas and maintain music playing in the showroom
- Assist supervisor in preparing for tour groups
- Open/Close store as assigned and/or assist with such procedures
- Answer phone and direct inquires
- Report maintenance needs to supervisor
- Request any needs to complete tasks to supervisor in advance
- Any other duties requested by supervisor as needed
Skills/Qualifications
- Friendly disposition and effective customer service skills
- Able to lift and handle merchandise and cartons
- Reading and math skills
- Ability to run a cash register and previous sales experience are helpful
- The schedule is flexible in coordinating with other associates. A regular schedule can be 1-3 days a week. Holiday season, additional days will be scheduled.
